Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I'm about to buy the EX35, but don't need the Nav system (any thoughts appreciated) as I have a Droid phone which has a great GPS. Problem is, not many colors available. I don't want black or white, and don't want black (graphite) interior. All they can find is currant exterior with wheat interior. I like the wheat (have it now in my Lexus), but not sure about the currant, is that the brown color I see on the road? The dealer says it's very popular (they'll say anything I think), but I'd like some opinions. Thanks

I bought the dark currant with the chestnut interior last month.

zer...erday

Depending on the light I notice a brownish gold, darker brown and even a deep cherry look.

I bought it for the change. Most of them I see are silver/charcoal and I've been there/done that.

You won't see many of them I can tell you that.

No regrets.

Thanks for the affirmation. I feel the same about the gray color choices. At least I'll know which car is mine.

I have the dark courant wheat combo and I wanted chestnut instead but the combo is gorgeous. GOTTA get the all season mats now. the wheat looks expensive and youll notice a lot of the high end cars in photo shoots/reviews have the lighter interiors and look the part. the dark courant metallic paint changes colors depending on light. when its overcast it looks really deep brown, when sunny it shows off ALL the curves on the car and the highlights are stunning. why people like the same old black, silver, dark gray with black interiors is beyond me. maybe theyre the ones who watch reality tv too.

Well since the G35 is Serengeti Sand, one could say I like the odd-ball colors.

lol

hmm Blue Slate is kinda of a weird color too....when the light is kinda dim i keep mistaking it for black....when the light is yellow-er....i looks almost dark aqua teal, and if it's like a bright bright white light, i swear it almost looks the same as my anthracite metallic TL........

then the sun comes out and i realize it's ...well it's aptly named blue slate.

i agree, the graphite interior isnt for everyone, esp with the wood trim.

I think the Dark Currant is a beautiful color, and would've gotten it, except i know how hard Wheat color is to keep clean,

The wife's G35 is wheat. That is why I got the chestnut.

Having just purchased a 2010 EX35 Journey with Bose/Navi in Dark Currant/Chestnut, I'm quite partial to the color combination. As another poster noted, you don't see many in that color (particularly the combination with the Chestnut interior)! It truly is a striking combination.

The Dark Currant seems to me to actually change color as the sun angle changes...Bright sun = brown, A little angles sun early/late in the day = nice hint of purple, at night...looks black.

Good luck trying to find the Dark Currant/chestnut...just like gone already!

Thanks all for the positive comments on the currant. Looking forward to seeing it. I have a light interior now and like it, so I'm good with that. Now all I have to worry about is did I get the best deal, but that's another story...

Originally, I wanted a white car this time around. My last two have been red. It seems that all high-end cars are black or grey/silver or beige. However, there were just too many white EX35 on the dealer's lot - so much for standing out. The EX35 in cassis in the showroom was a knockout - especially with the wheat interior. Under the showroom lights the car looked much bigger and the colour was truly a rich burgundy currant. Even the Rogue in cassis was beautiful! However, once I looked at a 2008 FX35 that was in for a trade - with the wheat interior - I changed my mind really fast. The two-year old carpet was dingy and the leather seats definitely showed gray/black wear. No matter how carefuly you are - someone is going to dribble coffee or something on that carpet and snow will fall on the seats when you open the door at some point!.

Fortunately, a cassis and chestnut came into the dealership and I grabbed it. The interior does appear smaller than the wheat and less roomy, but it is cosy. The $150+ front floor mats and cargo liner have been worth it to save the carpets.

I've had wheat interiors on my last 2 cars and never had a problem with dirt or wear. All weather mats in the front are a necessity AND they look a lot better in beige than black. I used to take them out is the spring, now I just leave them in, I can leave on my golf shoes and clay court tennis shoes in the summer w/out worrying about the mats. I've had this set for 6 years and they'll go into the new car also.Glad to hear only positive comments on the currant, I think it will look great.
