I bought my SL with CVT Sapphire blue in July and there was one other on the lot at the time also Sapphire blue with bluetooth, intelligent key etc. that I didn't get. No problem. My point is why is it so difficult for many others to get their hands on one. Is Nissan limiting production? Is it that Nissan can't keep up with demand? Are the dealers only getting so many? Is it that customers only want certain options, colors, etc and Nissan is only making the car in certain configurations? I didn't have a problem. But then color wasn't much of an issue and I wanted the CVT with no sunroof etc. I got what i would have picked out anyway.

Recently, all of the shipments I've seen going into the dealership I bought from have mostly new Sentras and maybe one or two Versas. I think they anticipated for more demand on the Sentras than the Versas, so they probably want to get rid of the extra Sentras before they bring in more Versas. That's just my two cents.

Nissan has already admitted to both underestimating demand for the Versa, as well as having a misguided view on the ratio of sedans to hatchbacks for when the sedans are released. They are working to reverse that ratio (originally 40% hatchbacks, now they want to make 60%).

Throughout the whole ordeal, they have had shortages of various items. ABS being a recurring item they have had a shortage of, the whole time... but at times have had shortages of both 6 speed and CVT transmissions.

I was super lucky and found the exact car I wanted within a couple hours of looking.

I think you got your V before it became really popular. I didn't start to see a heavy ad campaign here until around August. Seems like after August the V's started flying off the lots. Combine that with EV's posting and you get the a bunch of people chasing their tails trying to find this car. Now they are playing catchup. I like to call it Retroactive Production. Wait until demand is too high, then produce what you can.

I know in Minnesota they are scarce. Especially for those ordered and dark colors. You would think the light colors would be to hide the road salt and dirt on your car. But then I wasn't that smart either and bought a black one-go figure.

LOL. I meant your comments above about Nissan, not all of your postings in general.

I wonder if things aren't starting to pick up. I only saw one Versa in my dealer's lot for over two months after I got mine, and when I stopped by today to get them to order the third passenger airbag for my V (...) there were four on the lot. One SL with the works, an S 6MT and two S Autos.

It could be a case of the allocation changing. Nissan could've changed the dealer's allotment of V's.
