Not sure if it is against the forum rules or not(if so I apologize in advance), but does anyone have a used AV Selector they are trying to get rid of? I'm trying to watch DVD's from my the my Display Screen in my Infiniti. It does have factory Navigation if this makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

Not sure exactly what you are asking for. If you are looking for a NAV hack switch and harness, I doubt anyone would give theirs up. You might want to try the classified section and post your request there.

Thanks for the response. I was referring to the part that can be installed to allow you to turn your navigation screen into a video player. Have you heard of such a thing?

you need to install the dvd player to that middle "box" (proper term escapes my mind right now) then you might have to source the cable/wires to the main head unit. Most likely you will have to change your center console switch to accommodate the dvd function.

Thanks for replying. These would be the insructions for installing a separate DVD player correct? Is there anyway to configure the DVD drive the Navigation system uses to accommodate watching movies on it?

No, the navi drive is completely separate (in glove box). DVD drive goes in the front center console/arm rest.

I believe there is a HowTo thread in the FAQ, or if not there is a discussion there if you search for the right terms.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. My M45 does not have the factory DVD player installed, but I thought there may be a way that I could wire it to play DVD's.

You can........if you buy the factory DVD player. Some cars are pre-wired for it, some aren't. Have to take the interior apart a bit to find out. If you have Nav, you may be pre-wired.

Ok, thanks for the response. You have any idea what the factory DVD player is going for on these models? I have a little experience taking it apart as I took the CD changer/console out to hook up my IPod interface installed. It was easy to do the labor on the console and hook it up.

Gonna run you a few hundred bucks I'm sure. If you find that thread, you'll have more information.

You can probably source a used one on Fleabay for not too much (when I searched Infiniti M DVD, I saw a few for about $150), or if you have a salvage yard, you might get really lucky and get one off of a wrecked M.

You also need to make sure your audio video unit (radio) is equipped to take the connections from the factory DVD player. More than likely it's not, and you'll need a costly replacement, plus a configuration done at the dealer. Radios are not just plug and go in these cars.

I wish I knew exactly what connections were needed in the back of the radio. That way I wouldn't need to buy the DVD player setup to find out whether or not I have them.

so there are threads that talked about this topic. also from those who have done it. it's pretty well documented. the good news for you is this forum does not have a lot of pages so you can spend about 30 minutes searching and reading then you'll get your answer.

not 100% sure but depending on what package (options wise) you have on your car, it might already come pre-wired. Again, go through the pages and you'll find your answer.
