I've been looking to install an iPod into my Infiniti I30 2001. I saw this on discountcarstereo.com ,

1998-04 Nissan/Infiniti Auxiliary input AdapterManufacturer: SoundGateProduct ID: AUXNISS

http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=610

I have a stock Bose Sound System, has anyone used this before? Is it easy to install? does it work? I tried the Monster Cable iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter / Charger, and it's HORRIBLE in SJ, CA. It fades in and out, there's just no clear channel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, has anyone installed an Onboard PC in an infiniti yet? those touch screen pc's

Not sure of anyone that's used one of these as they're a bit pricey. From what I understand they should work, but not in conjunction with the orginal CD changer, since they use that "input" on the rear of the Bose unit. There is a switching device to allow for both, but that's more $$.

In short it should work.

I bought this particular item this morning. I'll probably get it installed later on this week. I don't have a CD changer, so hopefully everything will plug in as stated on the part's website.

We' have been putting in a lot of the new Ipod interfaces for Factory controls for Honda and Toyotas recently. Peripheral electronics. they DO work with factory Cd Changers on some model Radios. I have yet to see one that works for Nissan/ Infiniti, so please keep us updated.

I got it installed today, there's a bit of a problem with the sound quality. There's a high pitch squeeling sound and it gets louder as I go faster on the road. I believe the install wasn't properly grounded, not sure if anyone has any experience with this issue. I called the manufacturer, SoundGate, and they confirmed that their unit didn't have a ground built into it, and the RCA cables had to be grounded. I will try and do this sometime soon, the quality of the sound is alright.

I too think the unit is somewhat pricey

What model Infiniti do you have? what was the price you paid? A ground loop Isolator may help with the noise problem you are having. The ones I like the best are made by audiovox and come with the Rf modulator package that is designed to be sold with their overhead video systems. I just steal the isolators every time I install one and the come in handy.
