Hey guys, i've been doing alot of work on my car since I blew a headgasket back in November and things are finally starting to fall together. I've been trying to take pictures as I have been doing everything but I usually get caught up with work and forget. Anyways, check it out and let me know what you think.I forgot to take any pictures of the rear subframe until I put it all back on the car. Everything is repainted bloss black, except for my adjustable rear Toe rods, adjustable upper control arms, and the front upper support arms(not sure what there called). I installed new balljoints, subframe collars, and Stance GR+ Coilovers.I also cleaned the absolute crap out of the undercarriage and repainted using Rustoleum oil-based enamel with a roller and a brush in the hard to get places.

Sorry the pictures are little to big, I had already put them on photobucket. Heres some pictures of the front suspension and my Ray's. We just got a bead blaster at my buddies shop where ive been doing all this work, so everything in the front suspension was bead blasted before I painted it. Having access to a bead blaster makes things way easier! Before I spending forever in a parts washer and then scuffing everything up before painting.Rebuilt Rack & Pinion that I repainted, new ball joints, and tie rod ends.I stripped the wheels down completely and painted the centers gold using Duplicolor gold spraypaint and Duplicolor clearcoat. On the lips I put them on another car that runs(lol), jacked up one of the drive wheels and put it in first gear. I used Lacquer Thiner for wet sanding and just started out with a medium corse memory cloth and worked my way down to a fine scotch-brite pad. After I did that for a while I polished everything out with polishing compound. My wheels were disgusting and oxidized before, now I can see my self and it looks like a machined lip.Boxed in the Tension Rod Brackets and Im going to make a rod to go across and tie the two together, like the Nismo Brace.

Here's some pictures of what i've been doing to the Ka, Im staying ka because I didnt have the money to sway anything else, even though I have ended up spending enough money to easily buy a SR. Not only that, I didnt want to jump on the bandwagon and for classing reasons in Autocross. If I ever have problems later down the road im going to boost this motor, or im a huge fan of the L28t motor and that would be pretty kick ***. I had the block squared, decked, line bore checked was checked, and torque plate honed. Its Bored .020 over with Wiesco 10.5:1 pistons. I have new oem Topline Crank, and rods. I bought a new lower front cover because the oil pump, and a Topline timing chain kit. Most of the gaskets are topline to, except for the Head Gasket which is a Cometic 3-layer, I got off of turbo240. The bearings in the bottom end are Sealed Power. I installed ARP Head Studs. The head was checked checked for cracks. The valve seats were checked to make sure the stems made a good seat, and the old valves were reground. I did extensive porting to the intake, and exhaust to the head. I polished everything after I was done to make sure everything matched, than went back with a dremel stone and roughed everything up to prevent the fuel from pooling up. I bought new oem valve springs, And I plan on using the Brian Crower Stage 2 cams. I know i've left some stuff out, its hard to remember everything. This was a unfinished picture, its the only one I have. I dont have any pictures on my computer of the exhuast. Everything is port matched, and gasket matched. The intake plenum is ported from the throttle body to the head, and im using a Obx header. I plan to have the car running about a month from now, some of the other engine stuff I will have is a Findanza Flywheel, Exedy stage 2 clutch. Im going to do some sort of Ecu tune but I havent done to much research on it yet, I'd like to go megasquirt because it has the most options, its relatively cheap, and no other program compares to what it has to offer. I have Nismo motor and transmission mounts that im going to fill in with window weld. Thats about all I can think about right now, let me know what everybody thinks. Il post up more pictures, and progress over the next month.

alright here you go Ajax, and anybody else thats interested. I got most of the front suspension installed now. All I lack before I can put the car back on the ground is front hubs, paint the drivers side fender well, and brakes. Tom im going to get Z32 brakes off of a parts Z, so im going to see if I can resurface the rotors and than put Hawk HP+ pads on them. Of course ill bead blast and paint everything. So im hoping to have my car back on the ground sunday. Heres some update pictures.

i got rid of it since it was going to take way too much time to get repaired and it was going to cost probably 3x over what i could get another 240 for.

so i got another 240!

Hey guys I did quite a bit of work on my car today working on swapping the z32 brakes on it. I got everything on, except I didnt get the hubs off of the Z so im pondering if I want to go get that and tear it all back down. Another option ive been thinking about pretty heavily is investing in a Hydraulic Handbrake. The benefits would be huge and for drifting it would be 100 times better. If anybody has any info on hydraulic ebrake setups let me know because i'd like to do alot of research on it. Im defiantly going to upgrade the master cylinder to the z32 to. With the bushings and suspension, Im trying to really budget my money so I didnt do everything. I did get new steering rack bushings & rebuild rack and pinion, ball joints, tie rod ends, urethane tension rod bushings, and the subframe collars. The front subframe bushings were ripped a little but with the collars it doesnt matter because it mounts the subframe solid. I inspected all of the bushings in the rear suspension, I dont know how many of you have seen them up close but there's hardly any rubber what so ever in the lower control arms, and rear front toe rods. Also, i've got aftermarket rear toe rods and upper control arms so there is no bushing at all in those. Ill get some update pictures for everyone tom. I also finished my Head of today, I put the valvetrain back in and repainted it so it should be on this weekend with a 91 exhaust cam in the intake and 92 exhaust cam in the exhaust. Thats just temporary till I can afford brian crower cams and whatever ecm I decide on.

ok heres a few more pictures. The rotors are painted on the front, back and around the top so they wont rust. The picture with the strut bar and speaker cover I just wanted to throw in here. That bolt coming out of the speaker cover is attached to a fuel hose that is attached to the dampening knob on the Stance's. Keeps me from having to pull the strut bar which is a pita just to adjust the dampening in the rear.

I used silver High heat engine paint. If anything I figured it would fade, if it does get burnt off, which I dont think it will. Than atleast I tryed it and ill just do something different. Rusty rotors really put a drag on the looks of the suspension.

I doubt anything that's meant to be put on a block would burn off from hot calipers, so I don't see why you should say "if", atleast it's not walmart $.99 spraypaint

Well I finally got my car back on the ground yesterday, I still have to bleed the brakes and put the Z32 MC in though. Its just nice to see it on the ground after being on jack stands for the last six months. It's all finally starting to fall together though. Heres some pictures, it's literally on the ground! Im going to raise it just a smidge

just raise the back to make the wheel gap even. I think that stance would look sweet. I just got finished putting my trans back in and didn't have enough time to clean everything as well as you did. You did an A+ job on the undercarage and suspension cleaning/repainting. I too agree that blasting is way better than parts washers. Plus your hands dry out with a parts washer.

Well I have a few new pictures, nothing special. I raised the back up a inch and a half its about where I want it. The front I want to sit 1/2 of an inch lower than it is now. After I get the motor in it it'll probally lower the front an inch or so, so im just going to wait till than to fool with it. I have been doing alot of work on the motor lately so ill post up some pictures over the weekend. Im almost done with the head(needs cams), and intake( needs paint!). Right now im going through all the emmisions and taking them apart, cleaning them and making sure there in working order. All the lines will be bead blasted and painted gold with all new vacumm lines(using fuel line). After I get all that done I can start really assembling the motor. Heres the pics Z32 wheelsBefore I had any of the suspension on it, just wanted to kinda see what they were going to look like.Heres the Ray's before, Give me some input on what you'll think of the 245's on 8 inch wheel. I was considering putting 225's but ill need spacers and every time I see this pic I don't want to,lol.

and heres some random pics

Just to fill everybody in on some more stuff about my car and what I plan to do with it. It has been down since about mid december, I was on my way to a drift event and blew a headgasket( I still got to run, just not my car, lol).once I get it back together the first time I really plan to open it up is july 7'th, or maybe it was the 6'th? Theres a drift practice at the Nashville SuperSpeedWay I plan to be at. I will start getting back into autocross as much as I can, I need some tires first. I have a set of z32 wheels I plan to mount Kuhmo V710's on in either 225,50 or 215/40's, and Ill run in DSP. I also have an extra 2 Z32 wheels, and a total of eight SE wheels for drifting. I want to try to be at every drift event within 500 miles, for fun. Starting next year I plan to be competing in Autocross pretty heavily, As well as some drifting. The car is my daily driver, im driving my mom's old car right now....It's a hyundai Santa Fe! I have had the car for about a year, and its my third 240. Both of my last ones were S13 coupes, I love my car and its so much nicer/more luxury than what I had. Saying that, I still really really miss my last S13 and wish I still had it.
