thats a good site for some basic info, i was wondering though, does anyone here run a 205 50 15 on their 240 for autocross? the reason i ask is because most really good tires only come in 50 series, and a 225 would be too wide for the stock 6 inch rim, right? id prefer to stay in stock (not sts) until i get coil-overs etc., what about some kumho victoracers or something like that???

I was reommended a set of 205/50-15 Falken Azenis Sport tyres. You are gonna loose like 1/2 an inch of tyre diameter, but on the autox course that will only help you. http://www.falkentire.com/tires/az_rs_s ... alc.htmYou may wanna pick up another set of steel wheels, Azenis wear out fairly fast in daily driving. I think that victoracers are an R compound tyre, and that will put you out of stock class...but I could be wrong.

im not sure, but i think stock class can use r compuound, but sts cannot use them??? yeah, im actually getting a set of z31 wheels for daily drivers, and using stock wheels with whatever i go with for racing

depends on your cash flow man. if youre novice just get some azenis, but if you got the dollazzz get some victoracers, or if you have even more money get some hoosiers.

I use 205/50/15 Azenis on the stock wheels. but i still managed to spin out at the last event.

get:skillsticky tiresrace harness you cant use R compounds in stock classes. you can use azenis though, because theyre DOT approved. at least where i race.

with my mods (springs, shocks, st bars, sways, t/c rods, azenis) im in STS.

yeah, for this year (my first) im going to stay in stock, im going to all the events i can scca tsscc (local club) etc...get lots of seat time...my 2nd event was last sunday, and ive been finishing consistantly in the top 1/2 of street tire class (all classes together, running on street tires...maybe this winter ill do coilovers, sway bars, etc...i definately have to get tires like now though, right now im running on some all season 400 treadware tires

if your club allows r-compounds then maybe that would be an option, albeit an expensive one. when i started last year an old timer said to wait til you can drive the car before going to r's. during the learning curve we tend to destroy those soft compounds.

i use azenis on stock alloys and i drive around on them to. they are just about completely bald, so they are finally coming into their own....

you'll need to play with the air pressure to find what you like and your driving style accomodates best. i run about 46 warm up front and 34 rear. i tend to overdrive the car and end up with some push, hence the high front press.

this past weekend i bought a used 5-point harness for 25 bux. i decided to go ahead and install the lap belt for now. initial impressions lead me to believe that just the lap belt will be a tremendous help. we'll see sunday.

i run in NSTS class with 205/50/15 azenis on 180sx rims. all i have is sway bars, strut bar, tires, and tc bushings. i run about 40 PSI and i won the novice class 4th time out and beat STI's and vettes. THe azenis are great but i use them only for racing. the biggest thing is drivers skill and being smooth. i want shocks and springs and a seat. but i dont have the money so i am going ot have fun for now and kick some big money azz.:ylsuper

hell yeah ligouri, thats my philosophy...id rather go out and have big fun than spend big money...although, next year ill probably be running sts with full coilovers, swaybars, strut bars, bushings, and some light 16 inchers...it sucks that the stuff i want to do to the car just for me will put me in a higher class....oh well...ill learn as i go

Any idea what the offset on those rims are? I have seen a few sets on ebay for pretty reasonable prices. Tom Berg, don't know him personally, I do remember a guy with a brown (280?)z who also ran a formula car last year at autox. Don't know if thats the guy or not.

how many runs do you guys get with those scca events? i just went autocrossing this last sunday with the WCMC. 54 cars came out, only got 9 runs though, with the first few being on wet pavement....

You might want to use the z31 rims as your autocross wheels. IIRC, they're a tad wider than the stock wheels... The z31 are 15x6.5 and the s13 7-spokers are 15x6... It's not much, but every little bit helps.

-for the person above me: 9 runs is a lot.... down here we only get 3 or so... lucky bastards..

usually we get 6 runs in the chicagoland scca events...3 morning, 3 afternoon...i would run the z31 as the autocross rims, but wider wheels arent allowed in stock class, right??? im also pretty sure they are like a 30 offset, and the stock 240 wheels are 40 (not sure if thats right or not)...and you cannot change offset by more than a quarter inch (by my calculations is roughly 6.25 mm)
