What do you people think of autopower roll bars. This will be for a 93 hatch that will be seeing some track time (DE events) and a few hillclimb events, I just don't know to much about them but I'm on a budget, So I can't afford a full cage at this time.

I hear that they really dont do much as far as stiffening the chassis , but will do thier job in savin your *** in a rollover ect. I might get one just to have the optional harness bar.

I bought my roll bar from Kirk Racing. AP and Kirk are similar in quality(with a majority of opinions leaning towards Kirk by a nose) but depending on what part of the country you could save a bunch on shipping . EDIT: I see you are in Sc, I would really check them out.>>http://www.kirkracing.com

Whether its a bolt in or a weld in, both are going to stiffen the chassis signifigantly. Anyone says they dont is just plain wrong. It going to add some weight, about 70lbs or so, but the advantages of the added safety and stiffness is worth so much more than that.

Does Kirk have an application for the S13?

I know I checked a couple of years back and they did not.

As for adding the Rollbar --My buddy welded in one we made for my car( S13 hatch) and it stiffened up the rear of the car soooo much. you will love it.

They don't list one on their site, but they will make you pretty much anything you need. Best thing to is send them an email. Good luck. See you at the track

We got our Autopower 6 Point from IOport (the company that actually makes them) for our time attack race car. It does not have the tight tolerances that building a custom cage results in. Its a great 4 point and I would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

check out our build thread for pictures of the cage.

Autopower and Kirk have been around for a very long time and if their stuff was bad they would be long gone. I had an autopower bar in a showroom German Opel back when showroom first started. It wasnt that hard to install but you need to look under the car before you drill any holes, I didnt and cut a gas line. My bad.
