well recently i bought an AutoPage 750 LCD off of ebay for about $270 CDN shipped, which is a pretty good deal. I was also going to get my buddy to install it for free, cept he just recently installed one for the first time on a newer acura, and he ran into a lot of problems with it. he also went down to a local car audio shop and he said that they stopped selling this alarm because they sold 8 of them, and 7 came back.

problems such as barely any signal range (down to 6 feet sometimes), and many false pages were the most common. i thought that these alarms were pretty good, but my friend is tellin me that i should consider sellin the autopage and gettin a compustar.

maybe it was just a bad batch that was goin around my province, but have any of you guys heard anything bad about the AutoPage 750 LCD, or know of any problems with them?

i really don't want to have to sell this thing and get a compustar, just because i really need an alarm installed soon, and the time it will take to buy/sell, will be at least another month...

Hey ayjay. I haven't heard anything wrong with the 750. The 850's are great units as well and are base for a plethora of upgrades.. I recently installed a compustar 2WSS-AS. And here's what I think.

These systems are very nice for security purposes. They include prewired relays for remote start, starter kill , and second ignition. The look and design is also very modern and there are a sleuth of cool features. The downside is the installation cost and difficulty of installation. I installed this on a 91 integra and let me tell you, I called compustar at least 4 times for programming alone. If you have someone to do it for free , then whoopa-dee-freekin-doo , but if you want upgradeability don't get it.Definitely stick with a DEI viper or the autopage. They have more otional plug ins for additional sensors and is easier on the wallet.. Hope this helps man

wow thanks for the late reply man... my alarm has been installed for over a year now and it has been giving me problems in terms of range... sometimes i can't even arm/disarm it from 10 feet away! but most of the time it works well and the range that it can page me from is pretty good(about 300 meters away from an underground parking lot while i was sitting in a movie theatre). i'm sure that the 850 is a far better unit though. thanks again for the informative reply.

Wow bro. Maybe I should l00k at the date the thread was posted.. :-! Damn, and nobody replied??? Tha sucks the big one! Well if you are considering range nothing will be more precise than the compustars range(SS). The propietary technology for their broad frequency signal is awesome.. Quasi-difficult install. You'll pay a lot from authorized dealer..

The 850 is a very good next step , package for price..

I got a 750LCD and it's a pretty good unit. I know this is an old post. I just wanted to put in my $.02.
