i would like to be an Auto tech. Two guys worked at a nissan dealership for 4 years and then opened up their own shop. I would like to attend UTI, even though it is rather pricey.

my friend is in Urinary Tract Infection and loves it. They set up the sessions so that you can still work or do nothing morning session and then and afternoon. I was thinking about doing it but then decided against it.

Eh i'm not quite an auto tech but i'm a mobile electronics installer. I love it for the most part working on cars and getting paid for it is a pretty sweet feeling. And it pays decent too while i'm in school for computers.

Basically it will depend on experience as far as starting rate, and than you will get paid on "flag-time" which is the amount of labor hours a job calls for, based on labor guide average hours. So the key is to complete the job in a faster time than the labor guide in order to get more jobs completed in a specific pay period.

This is the long end of the normal pay plan for technicians, but to try and give you a range it is usually $27,000 to $65,000 annually. The key to earning more and/or even getting hired by most, is to get ASE certified in as many specialties as possible (this will make you more valuable to repair facility)

I was signed up to go to wyotech but I changed my mind and went to Ford asset instead, and I dont regret it at all. the number one reasomn I chose asset over wyotech was the price, it was about 18k for wyotech back in 01 and it only cost me about 7k for asset. also you dont even get a degree at wyotech its just a "certificate" im sure that looks good on a resume. but most importantly I chose asset because it is on the job training and for those of you that have been in this business for a few years you know how valueable that is. any education is better than none but you should really research before making a decsion of this magnitude. ohh yeah and you will never get rich off being an auto tech.

usually they dont start you out on flag time also known as flat rate right away they give you at least a few months before they do that also you cant be too fast because they start to cut your flat rate hours if you making too much money off them then again it depends on the dealership there not all the same
