Automatically turn down side view mirrors in reverse

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

In other luxury cars (Lexus and BMW for example) both side view mirrors will automatically adjust downwards when you put the transmission in reverse. In my EX-35, this will only happen if I have the side view mirror adjustment switched turned to one side or the other. Also only one mirror will turn down at a time. So by default, I've been keeping that selection switch to the right because that's the more useful side to see, and also the side where I normally parallel park. If the adjustment selection switch is left in the center (safety) neither side will move. Tell me, is this typical functionality and does anyone know how to get both sides to turn down at the same time?
Thanks

Typical. My RDX was the same way...just one or the other.

My wifes Lexus does both and I dont like it. I just want the passenger side mirror to angle down. I like the driver's side to stay put.

Well I guess it must be that way by design then. And somehow I knew you'd be the first to respond :) Thanks!

If i need to see the ground beside the Car as I back up, I manually turn my Mirrors down,, but otherwise I leave them in the normal position. I feel like I would hit something if I'm focused on the ground beside my Rear Tire.
