Another problem I'm having is that sometimes the windows will hang up in the open position and it's got me scared to roll the windows down. ..thats a real pain in SC. It's a '91 240sx. It does it once in a while but I'm worried it will break in the down position.

sounds like you're in for a new window motor. They can be expensive if you take it to a shop as I believe the motors are held in with rivets. If you do it yourself, you'll be in there for a while. If I remember correctly, one guy who I almost bought my 240 from, said a mechanic quoted him about 300-400 a door to fix the motors.

Post your question in Nissan Online Mechanic. It'll probably get you more help there. BTW, it could also be the window switch. Might wanna check into that (relatively cheap and takes no time to change yourself) before getting a new motor (not so cheap and a pain in the arse).

the window motors are not rivited in. this aint no gaal darn ford. yous all dont no whats you talkin bout. they are held in with 3 phillips head machine screws. They are attached to the window regulator. Window regs are pretty common to go out on nissans. Not sure what you mean by sticking down do you have to lift the window by hand to put it up? does it make crunching type noises and you can hear the motor running but it just doesnt go up? these 2 questions are 2 different problems so when you check be vary alert to what you have going on and post back when you know for sure which applies.

if it is neither I would go with the switch as groundhog said.

There is no motor noise and you can't pull the window up by hand. The window will come down but will not go back up. Wife says that after working the switch, it will eventuily? go back up. So do you all figure it's the window switch?

I think that after a lot of uses from the switch, the contact patch got full of black junk.. and makes the switch unable to have metal to metal contact.. all you have to do is scrape off the black crap, and it'll work fine again... I think that'll fix it.
