Hello,

Someone recently stole my keys, so when Roadside Assistance came they took the ignition part out of my fuse box so we could leave and grab my spare set of keys. NOW when I put that part back in, my windows won't automatically roll-up, but they will automatically roll down. Any suggestions? It's driving me crazy, just because I'd gotten used to it.

Thanks!

Ya, this isnt too much of a problem. They must have disconnected your battery there is a simple trick you can do to reset the auto up. Roll your front left (drive window) all the way down then hold up on the window button untill it reaches the top. Keep holding the button for 10 seconds after it hits the top after 10 seconds you can let go and test it out. This should solve your problem. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but who steals someone's car keys?that's like stealing somebody's bike lock & leaving their bike.

People who steal keys are the same people who glue receivers to phones. Mischief makers who don't know how to respect other people's property.

The other possibility is that they are planning to come back for the car at a later time, after the key theft is forgotten.

Skwerl, are you sure you didn't drop them off the edge of your desk....say into the trash? (I "accidentally" did that with the office phone one day when it wouldn't stop ringing. A cup of coffee will do wonders to silence a cordless phone).

Just be sure to have the dealer take that key and fob out of your Car's Memory. That way it won't work to steal your car - just to take everything from inside of it. It should be a really simply task for the dealer. Maybe if you're getting a replacement set anyways, make sure they clear out all the old codes.

Definitely sure... I drove then went into a movie store, searched for something on the computer where I put down my keys. Looked away to talk to a friend, then they were gone. Went back and my car's doors were unlocked (I could have sworn I'd locked them) but my ipod was still sitting on the front seat so nothing was stolen.

I'm incredibly nervous they might come back for it; it was in downtown Winnipeg and, to give you an idea of the people there, while waiting a guy peed on the fence beside my car, then yelled at me to give him money. Then he kept forgetting he'd already asked me for money, and asked four times *sigh*

I wonder if Nissan could re-program your key system, so you can forget about the stolen key...

Nissan quoted me $39.95 Cdn to reprogram my key (but they could still use the key to get in) and I'm hoping to get in and do that today. I'm not too sure if that did or did not include labour.

Hopefully they're too stupid to a) know how to remove the manual key or b) locate the same car again.

have you done anything noticeable to it yet? Maybe if it won't beep to the key, they won't be able to find it. (then again, on the V you only have one door lock and the ignition that would need to be changed... or possibly even 1 door lock if you could stand having two different keys)

Reprogramming the key system should include changing the codes for the immobilizer system, yes?

If so, they can turn the ignition all they want, but it won't start because it's reading the code chip and knows it's the wrong key.

It would indeed reset the immobilizer code so they couldn't start it. Hopefully they'd sit there for a few minutes/hours so I could walk in on them trying to steal it and beat them

Thank you CodeRed...I thought I broke my 2008 Versa Hatchback SL when I replaced my speakers. I did as you said and it fixed my auto up problem.
