As I have owned an automatic transmission vehicle myself (via the U13 altima) I know feel that automatics are worthless indeed. I had to have this transmission rebuilt and it didn't even reach 75,000 miles. It shifted extremely slow, and only ran a time of 16.7 with i/e. There is absolutely no feel and there is no skill required to race an automatic transmission vehicle. I can udnerstand having an automatic in a truck if you tow a boat or a trailer, but I don't understand having one in a small rice car. A 5 speed gives you much more feel and controll over the engine and even gives you better gas mileage. I'd like to know everyone's opinions on automatic and 5 speed transmission vehicles, not just 240sx's, but anything in general.

Manual transmission is the way to go if you can at all, no questions. Trucks, wife/girlfriend's car, family vehicles, sure, auto, but try to get a stick whenever you can.

Do a search. This dog of a discussion has been beaten into the ground.

Maybe you should have changed the fluid. Besides, Altimas are ALL slow. :D
