I'm new here and a little bit of a noob on cars too. I'm in the Marines and about to head over to Iraq in september. I love the 350z and wanted to get one badly but I don't know stick and wanted to drive one with no problem before I left so I decided to get an autotrans. So I was wondering what extra things do you need to do with the engine to support a turbo. Is it anything different than a mantrans? I appreciate your answer guys.

Depends on the power you plan to put down, a trans fluid cooler is always a great idea, but you could do your twin turbo kit and try it out, if your transmission breaks it will most likely be under warranty.

Thanks for serving in the US armed forces!!!! Be safe in Iraq.

I agree with getting a good transmission cooler for the auto

Being safe is a very hard thing to accomplish in Iraq! That is like my best advice: just dont get shot !transmission cooler you say? Hmm... is there a spacer for transmission fluids that you would recomend/a cooler in specific by a good company? That would definantly help!

B&M, Greddy and others have transmission coolers as I am sure some of the NICO sponsors do as well.

Another thing to look into for the auto would be a VB mod for better pressure levels and firmer shifts. Stillen has one for $700, but others probably have similar listed. As noted I'm not a Z guy so I'll let others express their experiences with particular products.

You should probably upgrade the clutch and might as well do a flywheel too.

Stillen has a service that allows you to send the 5AT valve body out to them, and they upgrade it so it has quicker, smoother and crisper shifts. Decreases shift time, and also supposedly allows for the transmission to handle more power. I plan on doing a turbo kit in the future, too, and mine's also a 5AT. I bought it because I like it that way - we've got the ability to shift if we want, without the obligation.

Well, F1 shift paddles? It's an interesting idea, and is definitely doable. Maybe we can devise one through the use of technology from the G37.

Isn't there a guy on here who has paddle shifters on his S13? i know i have seen and read a write up of the car I'm just not 100% sure he is on Nico. I'm willing to bet that you could do something similar to the 350 using similar steps if one were so inclined.
