Ive been kind of debating on whether or not to go manual with my ca18det swap. (one reason is because I dont have practice to learn manual real well, so I would have to learn after I get the swap). This car will probably be a daily driver, so of course I want to be able to eat, talk on the phone (not dangerously though), drink, etc. A lot of people tell me that a manual is fun, but its also gets tiring.

Are there any disadvantages with having an auto besides the obvious drivetrain loss over manual? And would a BOV even make noise?

The BOV would still make the same sound. It's just there to relieve pressure when the throttle plate closes, which it does the same way with either transmission.

ya it would work the same, but on an auto you usually don't close the throttle plate(let off the gas completly) when shifting. Like a manual.

so therefor the bov would do almost nothing,

I know a lot of people say that manual is fun, but it gets tiring sometimes.

it gets tiring sometimes? i thought u couldnt drive stick, how do u know? if ur stuck in 23453 miles of traffic then your legs will be very buff afterwards, but the fun a 5spd is worth is way more than the occasional traffic.

Let me rephrase it: A lot of people tell me that a manual is fun, but its also gets tiring.

So like quicksilvia said, it basically wouldnt sound off and would basically be pointless to get an aftermarket one, right? Cause of the throttle plate almost never closing and just basically how fast and auto shifts. Or would it be a REALLY quick noise?

I decent transmission cooler and not heavily modified engine putting out ridiculous numbers will be fine. Let's remeber the transmission was used on the car for a number of years before it came over here.

especially on a CA, not too much torque going through that transmission.

the BOV would still operate, but only when you let off the gas.

Ah, ok. So while im accelerating, it wont really sound off as with a manual. But it would sound when I let off the gas. Thanks.
