I have a 2001 Sentra GXE - I can swing a wrench and what I can't do, I've got a buddy who helps me figure things out. Is it possible to convert a car with an AT over to a MT? How much work is involved? Is it mostly a mechanical swap or is there computer programming that has to happen too? The thing is currently out of service as we are fixing some front end body damage - I figured that if I wanted to do anything interesting to it, now was the time to check some options out.

Thanks for any information.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm above 90% (with the sentra) that you can just swap transmissions and get a manual ECU, brake pedal, and clutch pedal and be fine.

idk if this will help, but this was in the tutorials forum and it shows you how to get the transmission out of a 240sx. i would guess that it would be fairly similiar. this tutorial will show you how to remove the transmission and then replace the clutch and flywheel. you can stop after you using the tutorial after you have got the transmission off, but i would highly suggest putting in a new clutch and flywheel. the diff. is day and night. i hope this helps, sorry i dont know much bout the sentra's. but good luck with all the work. post some pics of the body damage so people can see your progress and you can get some cool feedback!!! Good luck man!

ps.. i have to replace my clutch and flywheel this friday. my clutch just recently went out on me!!!
