automatic transmission

' 94 240sx convertible- intermittent shifting problems- hot or colddoesn't matter- when shifting form 1st to 2nd gear it goes into a neutral state- if I put the shifter in neutral and turn the car off,while coasting-then restart the car and put he car in drive- the trans automatically picks 2nd gear to start from and car shifts ok after that. The car could do this 5 times a day or not do it for a day or two. very intermittent. The filter and fluid have been changed since this started happening several weeks ago.

see if you got trans codes. only way I know how to do it is with consult (nissan scan tool) so you may need to go to a shop to have your codes retrieved.

I also have a 94 convertible and have the same problems...only I just turn the car off and resart and the problem goes away, or sometimes if i play with the gas pedal, it eventually shifts...this is after a transmission rebuild,although it did it before. I figured the rebuild would fix it but no such luck. Please let me know if you ever figure out what the problem is. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the ECU...

not the ECU but the TCM. it most likely does if you had your trans rebuilt and you have the exact same problem.

The intermitted transmission problems were caused by a flakythrottle position switch. The part was around $36.00

I'm new to the nissan thing but the '93 tsm that I have gives diagnoses directions with and without consult
