I have been told the only automatic transmissions that will fit this vehicle is one from an 1989 or 1990 model 240. Can anyone verify this statement?

THanks

i dont see what the big deal would be. if anything you'd need to switch to the 91 style shift linkage and shifter if you wanted to se a 91+ auto tranny. possibly the driveshafts are different aslo.

From what I have seen the a/t is a RE4R01A on 89-98 240's and have the same gear ratios. The only difference in driveshafts is for abs and non-abs. There maybe some difference in the bellhousings. I have put a Pathfinder a/t in a 300zx by changing the bellhousing and making the wire harness to the trans longer.
