I got this idea while driving today....

How much does the Engine Control Unit retard ignition timing by when a "Shift" signal is received?

Could the ignition timing be retarded even more for increased transmission longevity?

I figure I got nothing to lose but learning some more by posting this. After all the G50 Q45 transmission is very good at its job if maintained, Like everything on a car.

OBVIOUSLY you didn't bother to read my previous 10,000 posts where I delineated in detail the data obtained with a Consult in 0.03 second intervals prior to, during, and after a series of shifts.

The advance goes from 28 DegBTDC [6500 rpm] to ZERO TDC then slowly back to 20 DBTDC [4000 rpm].

ZERO is esentially ZERO TORQUE nada nothing during shift which last less than 1 second.

The same thing can be observed with a G [accelerometer] meter graph the output.

The best way to extend AT life is to minimize shifts especially near full power ones.

Take time to count and log every gear shift in a typical day.

I must have forgot about that detail....

Thank you for spending your time re-educating me, I am sure this will help many others as well.
