Automatic transmission shifting faster? adverse affects?

Ive got a 91 SE 240SX with an automatic transmission. ive seen on the 240SX.org site something about makign the manual shift faster by detaching a resistor. i tried it, and it does work, but the transmission does appear to be shifting alot harder. i was wondering if anyone had any information on this, if its bad for the transmission or anythign like that. i like the way it feels, but if its going to mess up my transmission, its not worth it. thanks!

put simply. it'll sounds like something that'll shorten the life span of your transmission. now if you could make a switch for it for when you turn it off and on that would be sweet. and 1/4 mile times with and without it?

right, thats what i was planning on doing. putting a switch on it. i dont drag the thing so i wouldnt know the difference, but i might try now that i learned this. not sure if there is actually any benefit but like i said it feels like its a little quicker. thanks for the advice

it doesnt effect the 1/4 times we had a thread on this in 240sx fourm a few monthes ago, many actually reported lower times, i too have n auto, well for now soon itll be a 5speed Ca18det... but i enjoy that jerky shift it gives when unplugged, an ive had mine disconected for like 1.5 yrs or more an i think its now taking a toll.. doesnt like to shift to OD when cold an kinda lacks in power

usually when auto trannys shift a little quicker and a little harder it is good for them. In an auto, the less slippage during shifts the better. But , I dont know what is causing your trannny to shift harder and how hard it is shifting. I have a 71 Nova that runs mid-12's in the quarter with an auto that nags every shift and its been driving forever. I have also heard of people putting shift kits in their auto transmission and making it last 20000 more miles than it would have
