Hi everyone, I have been having some trouble with my 91 240 sx. It started out with transmission whining and sliping. A week ago, my father and I removed the transmission pan and replaced the filter. Since then, the transmission will not move the car. It seems like the transmission will not shift out of park. I have tried all of the gears and even neutral to see if I could push the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,David

Sounds like time for a rebuild, take it to a transmission shop... be prepared for a 1k bill at least.... I had the same problem in mine when I bought mine (I had a spare transmission available to me though)... Also, go onto ebay and try to find a used transmission, might be something there...

Did the old oil smell burnt at all? If so, then it is definately gone. Check the level of fluid on the dip stick. Mabye the transmission is only partially full....

I think It's probably gone search the internet you'll probably find one cheaper than rebuilding yours. I went on this one website called UNAP and put some info in and they sent out to lkike 20 different places and the next day I got at least twenty different people e-mailing me about my parts.

I talked to the local Nissan Dealership's service department today. They told me that there is no such thing as a transmission filter in any Nissan car, that there is only a screen. They also said that if you try to change the screen, the bolts that need to be removed have some parts on the other end inside the transmission that will end up being disconnected. Does anyone have any information on this? They said the only way I will be able to get my car running again is to bring it in to them and let them take the transmission apart and reconnect those parts.

they are lying to you.The screen is an easy change once you get the transmission pan off.

Let me know if you end up needing a whole transmission. I have like 3 of them.

Well, I figure, if I'm gonna get another transmission, it's gonna be a manual, and I'll do the manual conversion on the car.

Does anyone know whether putting too much fluid in the transmission would cause this type of problem? Maybe a modulator or some other regulating system that would shut down the transmission if there is too much fluid in it?
