Automatic Transmission Problems and Idle Problems

have a 91 240sx that is having automatic transmission problems and idle problems. When the car is idling stopped, the idle will go up and down. When the car is running on the highway, the transmission will not shift smoothly, it will sometimes shift when you ease up on the gas pedal, and the RPM will increase up on its own without pressing more on the gas pedal. Sometimes when stopped at a red light, car will start shaking and turn off sometimes. Even when reversing car will shake and turn off sometimes. Please help...

There are several incedents of this issue with idle in 240 technical section. But you should start with checking your TPS adjustment and make sure your at .4 to .5v at rest position with the car warmed up but not running.

Thank you for replying. i have a few questions though. i've attached a picture of the tps. can you tell me which of the wire harnesses is the one that i'm suppose to measure the .5v. i have labeled the connectors A & B. also am i suppose to leave it connected or disconnect it to measure the voltage.
