Has anyone performed an automatic transmission oil change yet?

I have the nissan j matic oil for the 2003 coupe.

What else is required? do they run filters? Are there any gaskets that need to be replaced?

Also there is an option either to drain the oil from the transmission or feed it through from the radiator hose to fully flush the system until clean oil is visible when disembarking the pipe. What method have you guys used?

Regards

There is no filter for our cars...which I thought was wierd. Our transmission are also labeled as non serviceable, which i suppose means that your not reccommeneded to work on them yourself. I have heard too many horror stories about the transmission flush, so I decided to always go with the drain and fill. I had the nissan dealer do it with the j matic fluid for about 45 bucks, of course i bought the fluid online and then brought it in for them to drain and replace. I bought 4 quarts and it didnt take much time for them to do it.

Nissan Matic-S is now the replacement for the Matic-J fluid. matic J is fine but the matic S is better.

For a complete flush, it would be best to pull the drain plug and let the car sit overnight. You'll get much more fluid out. Otherwise you'll change out like 6-7 quarts of the 11 that it holds.

I just drain and fill the 6-7 quarts every 20-30K miles and it keeps the transmission fluid looking good.

For reference, how much? I am thinking of doing a flush at 20k and then a drain and fill every 30k or so after.

Hi, My 04 sedan had 68000 miles. I do concern that power flush method could damage the transmission parts, especially on high millege car. Can any one to tell how to refill accurat amount of new fuid, since my car did not have transmission oil dip stick to check. please help.
