My girlfriend recently purchased a 1995 240sx equipped with an automatic transmission. The transmission acts funny. It shifts, shifts smooth, but u need to rev the crap out of it just to get it to shift. Going from 1st to 2nd with the shifter in D you need the RPM's close if not beyond 7500 for it to shift. Also, if you start in 1st on the gear selector and manually put it into 2nd the transmission doesnt want to shift until high rpms. I know nothing about these cars and want an opinion before I start to swap the transmission, thanks alot guys - Greg

Also there is a Check Engine light on and havent had the time to scan it yet to see what it is.....doubt that has anything to do with hi-reving shifts

seems like that transmission is dying on you. automatic trannies seem to break easy, especially if it's been previously drifted with. if i was you i would just swap it to a 5 spd, or just buy another auto transmission. considering it's your gf's car, i would say buy another auto transmission, cuz i'd assume she wouldnt know how to drive stick.
