I Would like to swap my NA motor for a TT motor. The TT motor comes with an automatic trans but i want it manual. My car is already Manual. I Want to know if the ECU's are different and if I can use a Automatic ECU for a manual trans mission and are the tt transmissions different from the NA transmissions. could i use the same trans from my NA and put it on the TT?

Should be able to use the 5 speed trans on the turbo engine. Bellhousings and such are the same. Not sure if they added beefier gears in the TT trans. Auto and manual ECMs are different for every nissan I've seen. It's not easy like subaru where you ground pin 72 and it tells the ECU ok you're a manual trans now :)

5 speeds are the same except the bell housing, speed sensor, and some small things. If you use the NA trans, you need to grind out the bell housing in order for the TT flywheel to fit. You will also have to get a shim for the starter, a lot of people do this. The internals are the same so it will be able to handle the power.

You are able to use the auto ecu for the 5 speed, but not able to use the 5 speed ecu for an Auto. I would suggest just getting a tune for the swap, makes life just so much better as you don't want to use a JDM ECU if that is what you are going to do.

Whats the difference between the JDM ECU and the American ECU?

Tuned differently. I believe the JDm ones are tuned for 100 octane, the ones here are tuned for 91. That is the biggest difference, I think there are a few more, but not completely sure.

Do you have a website that will show how to tune it down to 91 octane?

The only way to "tune it down" is to send it to someone that can chip the ECU to the specs you are looking for. This will normally take to get it socketed, which is the part that is tricky. Conceptzperformance, specialtyz, Z1, all are places that can do it for you. This is something you do not want to tackle on your own. You need the software to write it and the knowledge on how to get the fuel parameters correct.

The only other option is to buy a USDM ECU, which essentially will cost the same. With a tuned ECU, it will get you more ponies and you will be able to boost higher than stock. A non- tuned ecu will create a lot of havoc if you turn the boost up from 9PSI.

Is there a warehouse for them and do you know how much it would cost?
