automatic to 5 speed swap?
I was just wondering if anyone knew a great write up on swapping out an auto transmission to a 5 speed transmission? I got my 93 2.4L h.b. and im wanting to put a 5 speed in it but im wanting a good write up for the how to on this! Also from what year to what year of 5 speed transmission's would bolt up with my 93? Thanks

90-97 should work. You may want the ECU from a manual trans truck. From a parts perspective, you're best off buying an entire donor vehicle to get all the little parts that go with it.

ok so i have looked on here trying to find what i was looking for as far as the transmission swap........anyone know anywhere to find a complete write up on this?

Ha-ha, I know the feeling of trying to find something in here. Everybody says "search for it" and after searcing for days and sometimes weeks, still no answer. Now if I go into a shop and pay $75 an hour, THEN somebody knows the answer.
Typical forum B.S. Tho' occasionally you get a decent answer and rarely a correct one.
You are better off buying a 5-speed than getting much help from a forum.
Better yet, get one that someone already did the work of swapping some power under the hood of this slow-poke. Maybe a turbo or a SR20DET....
I am sure I will get mail from the PITA folks in here.

AUTO TO MANUAL SWAP
FIRST YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SWAP OUT ECM OR WIRE HARENESS.
2ND 86.5 TO 97 TRANS WILL WORK BUT THE 96 AND 97 HAS ELECTRONIC SPEEDO THAT MUST BE SWAPPED OUT.
REMOVE TRANS AND STATOR PLATE FROM ENGINE. AND DRIVE SHAFTREMOVE THE BRASS SLEVE FROM CENTER HOLE IN BASK OF ENGINE.
REMOVE DASH.REMOVE AUTO BRAKE PEDAL AND FILLER PLATES OR CLUTCH MC.REMOVE CARPET
RE INSTALL NEW BRAKE PEDAL CLUTCH PEDAL AND CLUTCH MC, HARD LINES AND SLAVE.
REINSTALL DASH
INSTALL 5 SPPED TRANS FLYWHEEL PRESSURE PLARE AND CLUTCH DISC.AND DRIVE SHAFT FROM MANUAL TRANSPRESUURE UP CLUTCH FLUID..
THESE ARE THE BROAD STROKES..
ANY QUESTIONS PM ME..
