Automatic Speed Sensor in 5 speed?

I searched, and seem to come up with some contradictory information. I did the 5 speed swap, and am going home tonight to finish up the last little details (hopefully). I tried using the speed sensor on the transmission, and it didn't work, so I was wondering if my automatic speed sensor would work?

the automatic sensor is a bit different. What type of sensor came with your trans? or better yet what type of car is the trans from s13 or s14?
