Regarding my automatic sensing headlights: it seems that they come on WAY too early in the late afternoon, when it's still quite light out. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, but the circuit is connected to the Navigation display such that when the lights come on, the Nav display dims to night mode, and it's still much too light out for night mode and it's hard to see.The settings menu has an Automatic Lights Sensitivity slider but, according to what I've read, that only adjusts the time delay before the lights come on when they sense the dark (seconds), not the actual sensing function. I've played with it and don't see a real difference anyway. There's nothing blocking the light sensor on the dash.Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks,Russ

There is a button on the right of the display that allows you to manually switch to the day mode (on the '09 G37).

If you have a 07+ sedan or 08+ coupe with NAV there is a setting via the display to set the headlight delay. Under Settings > Comfort & Conv. you can set the Auto Headlights Sensitivity. I think this is part of the Navi package and not the Tech package. My wife's G has this option on the display but she has Navi and Tech so I am not 100% sure. I don't have this option with my 08 coupe since I have neither Tech nor Navi.

Well the system settings actually go by sunload, so they come on in darker settings. You can just leave the lights on off setting and set to auto when its dark out. For older models, the V35, you have to tell the dealer to change the setting to more or less sensitive in the BCM settings.

Well its actually called a Sunload sensor. Its not really a measurement for luminescence... you can throw a quarter or something over it and the lights will be on all day... by the way matt, I've been waiting for your email. still.

Isn't that standard on all 07+ sedan? Maybe comes with the premium pack. I know I have it and I had it on my 07 also. But again I am in winter wonderland and some packagies are mix and match.

well zozo, if you have auto headlights, you have a sunload sensor. I like my lights to be on more than off, like sunsets and sunrise or very cloudy days. So I went into my ecm with the consult and set my headlamp sensitivity to a more sensitive setting. Or you can get a permanent marker and paint the top layer of the sensor to make it darker too... I did that before I realized it was adjustable in the bcm menu...

I was thinking about the auto headlight being standard on the 07+ sedan. Or maybe the premium.

What else you can adjust with consult? Come on tell us. Don't hold back. Don't be shy. LOL You can do it Poyzi. You can do eeeeeetttt.

Might worth to buy one and play around. Of course if there are some good things changable.

Is there a fuse for the AWD? Is there away to turn it off. I'd like to turn it off in winter and visit Sean and go for a fundrive in our winter wonderland. Nothing better than skating with a 3500lb G.

Consult is a $3,000 computer only dealers can have. But I don't know off the top of my head whats adjustable, I can hook it up to my car this weekend and see what else shows up. The V36 G has more driver control. And there is a way to turn off the AWD, but you don't want to. You'd light up the dash with fault codes.

Per Infiniti, auto headlights don't come on the base model for '07+ sedan's or 08+ coupes. You have to have the Journey edition at a minimum. For the '03 G35 you don't get it with the base either but have to have the Premium Package.

I think the base here in Winter wonderland is the Journey. We don't have the base you guys have. I think. We even call some of the colors different. Why we do that ...have no clue.

I've got a question about this as well, although mine is regarding the "sensitivity" setting of the lights. Does this increase or decrease the time delay before the lights come on or does it affect the level of darkness? I like to use the auto lamp feature and have had it on several different cars and have found that on the Infiniti, the lights come on the instance darkness is detected. All other cars have a slight delay before the lights come on. Whats annoying is if I'm driving at normal speeds and pass under a bridge, the lights come on. On my other car(Lincoln LS) and other cars I've previously had, I can pass under a bridge without the auto lights coming on unless traffic is stopped. I know that on my 06 the dealer has to adjust the sensitivity option and I was wondering if anyone knew whether changing it would increase the delay before the lights come on?

Not necessarily. The sensitivity remains the same. The lights come on after the sunload sensor goes 2 seconds with no sunload. But before you start the car, as the key goes from Acc to ON to Start, the sunload sensor detects 0% sunload, so the lights come on immediately because it recognizes that as nighttime.
