automatic seatbelt probelm

Hi all, I own a 89 hatchback and lately, the automatic seat belt havent been working, when i would close the door of my car and start the car, the seat belt wouldnt go back, it would just stay in the front. But once in awhile it decides to work again... im stumped.... any sollutions plz? Thanks

Maybe a bad/going bad ECU ( for lack of a better term). Not the main ECU, but the ECU that controls the seatbelts, cigarette lighter and electric mirrors, located under the center console. OR maybe the motors are going out.

Now a sales pitch...LOL I have a complete automatic seatbelt set for sale. BOth belts with motors and ECU thingie..LOL

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, except the belts got stuck in the back position. I took it to the nissan dealership and had them check it out. Three hours and five cups of coffee later I had working automatic seatbelts again for free

try checking out this post. you could save a little time by using the red search item at the top of the page. when posting give that a shot first. it could getcha up and running alot quicker then waitin for an answer. hope this helps. also as mentioned your condition may be covered under warrenty
