the passengers seatbelts retracts fine, drivers side is the problem. if i leave my car outside and the car gets rlly hot inside, its when the belt retracts. i then open the door, it works fine but when i close the door again it wont retract. :wtf2: i took the car to the dealership, they switched the belts and all but i still have the same problem. they said they will do a diagnostic for $320 + the item they will have to order. thats more than wat the car was worth at the time :nono: . did a swap in my car and now im trying to get my seatbelts working since i attract alot of cop attention with no bumper. (3 tickets already: having no hood. was more like a fix it ticket. no seatbelt and no registration in car.) any idea wats wrong with the belts?

It's a fairly simple system. Maybe the belt motor failed. Possibly go to a junk yard and just take everything from the driver's side seatbelt system. It's a couple of screws and electrical plugs, not hard to take out. Also there's a control module in the center console. Or the door sensor. Maybe that went bad. check any applicable fuses too?

Pull off A-pillar cover, unplug + unscrew. Remove the back seat panel and there should be two plugs, one for the motor and one for the door sensor. Unbolt motor. Unscrew door sensor. That's the whole system. Should take 15 minutes. Good luck!

i removed the backseat panel and saw chunks of gray stuff building up to one of the plugs. i scraped it and seatbelt worked. opened it and closed it and stopped working. :( i rememberd reading something about that so i had the green plug opened up and saw some more of the grey build up. probably blocking the signal. i cleaned that, put everything together and boom seatbelt worked. opend and closed the door and worked every time. so i guess i only had build up grease that was causing it to block the signal. i guess in the heat it expanded it and somehow worked temporarily. well now it works. :D
