The seat memory is not working, nor is the seat automatically adjusting when starting the vehicle. I've checked all fuses and none are blown. Coincidentally, the shift lock solenoid kept preventing the transmission from being taken out of Park. I've replaced this before (about 3 years ago) and know all about this. So I replaced the solenoid and it didn't fix the problem. Temporary solution is to wire tie the plastic switch that prevents the shifter from moving. Not sure if the two problems go hand in hand and why the new solenoid doesn't work. The third problem, which could also be related, is that the vehicle would not start, without moving the shifter between gears, sometimes into neutral. I believe it is the park/neutral safety switch located on top of the transmission. My valve covers had developed a leak and the oil had saturated the switch. I cleaned the switch off, fixed the leaks (along with locktite on the power valve threads) and the vehicle has not had any starting issues again. But the solenoid still has the wiretie and the auto seat adjuster still does not work.
Does anyone know if the seat position switch gets a safe code from the shifter position? And could the shifter position switch, located on top of the transmission, have anything to do with this problem?
BTW - SUV just turned 205k miles and runs like a champ. 22 mpg on the hwy and going strong. (though I may end up trading it in toward a F250 cause I need to tow some big trailers
