Hi!

I have a 2010 Nissan Rogue, SL. I noticed that sometimes if I leave my vehicle unlocked that the car will be locked when I get back and sometimes it is not. I remember reading in the owner's manual somewhere that the vehicle does lock after so long. However, I'm not sure that I read how long before it locks itself. Also, if someone is sitting in the passenger seat or driver's seat does the vehicle "sense" them and not lock the vehicle? Thanks for your help!

i know that the doors automatically lock when you unlock remotely and didn't open any door for a period of time. once you open any door, it would not "timed out"/lock by itself. hope this helps.

my 2 cents and wierd experience. I bought a long floor mat that goes across the rear passenger area and 2 extra individual rubber floor mats partially shoved under the seat to cover more area. While doing so, I heard the door lock and unlock. Thinking I was just hearing things, I kept re-adjusting my mats and I heard it again. Being paranoid that I was hitting some wire for my autolocks, I adjusted it so it won't be in a certain position as when it was going off.

And while working under my rear bumper installing my rear tube, I swear I thought I heard the Rogue self-locking again.

It has not happen ever since, but it seems that the Rogue likes to self-lock when you touch it in certain areas and positions .

No problem lately.

Auto Door Lock explanation from the factory service manual:

Quote »AUTO DOOR LOCK OPERATIONWhen all doors are locked, ignition switch is OFF (ignition switch is not pressed) and key switch is OFF (keyfob is not inserted in key slot), doors are unlocked with keyfob button.

When BCM does not receive the following signals within 60 seconds, all doors are locked.• Door switch is ON (door is opened)• Door is locked• Ignition switch is ON• Key switch is ON (keyfob is inserted in key slot)[/quote]Although I have not tested this, it may be possible to unlock the car, open the door then close it, then press the unlock button on the fob again and it will automatically lock after 60 sec.

I find it very easy to hit the lock/unlock button with my keys in my pocket, carrying groceries with keys in hand, etc. Be sure that you are not activating the fob accidentally.
