But anyway. And how many people, right now, have a high-stall torque converter in their 240sx? You're an *** man. These are people that are going to slap a turbo onto an auto car, and you and others are saying with the same setup, the auto will be faster. NO! It will always get stomped by a better geared 5speed. Untill you get a couple thousand dollar rebuild from Level10 or someone. But why? Just get a manual.Think before you type.-Jeff
A new stall converter is 350 bucks tough guy!!!

Can't boost on the line, why not, I've been doing it in Grand Nationals, Skylines and 300Z's for years now.

Try a cheap line lock, or even cheaper, try this next time. Apply the E-brake and the foot brake at the same time, apply throttle, and watch the boost come on. Leaving the line on boost will yeild a way faster 1/4 time. can't get traction, try bigger drag radials.

Wow, this is an old thread. And I now have a new fav quote
WDRacing wrote:Enough bickering about why not to turbocharge an auto...anyone who says you can't is ignorant, anyone whos says a manual is faster is ignorant. The only reason I can think of where a manual is preferred would be road course or drifting. Auto's are better for drag and better for daily driving depending on traffic.

The Bov read off the vaccum signal behind the throttle body , when there's positive pressure to the BOV, it will stay closed, but when it reach to a negative pressure (vaccum) ,it will open and discharged the air. since it's an automatic , u dont' have to let go the gas padel for shifting , that mean your throttle always open for the air to get to ur engine and your BOV always stay closed.

Im building auto KA-t as well. It is my daily driver, I have to sit in traffic for 1 hour every morning on the interstate, and i just want a good 200-230 whp. Nothing crazy, just enough for a nice kick in the pants, and something that is fun and that I can enjoy!!! Thats all that matters.........If you enjoy your car, doesnt matter what others say or think.

whoever said you have to let go of the gas while shifting a manual? its harder on the clutch, but its faster

Who said that you even have to depress the clutch when shifting a manual? It's harder on the transmition but it's faster if you know what you're doing. Anyways, on average, a well built automatic with a nice torque converter should be faster at drag than a manual with the same horsepower unless you have someone that's amazing at shifting driving the manual. However, if you're using an automatic car because you want an all out drag car, why not look into a sequential transmition regardless of what it costs (you would be racing to win, right)? If you're turboing an automatic car for street use just because you want to, then do it. From what other people have said, it seems quite possible.
