I know, heresy. but if you have an automatic kat or know someone who does, tell me as much as you know about it. seems like a nice combination of sportiness and daily drivability. and yes, i did search, but i'm looking for personal experience.

p.s. - i know, use the money for a 5 speed swap. and i probably will, but im curious.

few people on here have auto ka-t's and seem to work fine. Just get really good transmission fluid and a transmission cooler if you can.

Hey auto trannys on KA-T are fun *** hell.

Just like mentioned before get good transmission fluid, a decent oil cooler, and a high stall converter.

And you will have a world of fun. The fastest KA-T by Ivan running high 8's I believe uses an auto transmission.

really? I would love to keep my 240s transmission until it decides to give up the ghost, and if I really want pick up another project that is manual. I would probably run low boost just to nab about 200 hp, so maybe this is the route i should be exploring.

I did forget to mention though when Ivan ran the 8 in his 240 it wasn't the KA-T transmission. But at least it was a KA ....

Im running an autotragic in my KA-T. I usually dont have any problems except for when I realllly get on it, it likes to slip a little going into 3rd. But other then that it shifts awesome. Ive read of people modifying their setup for 300zx trannys as well as ford C4's, those things are pretty much indestructable.

Current transmission condition is really what matters the most. High mileage trannies have alot of material worn off of the clutch packs. At a minimum I'd use redline oil and a big oil cooler. If the transmission is in good shape it will hold just fine.

If you ever rebuild it, you can send the stall converter to Precision Industries and they'll ramp up the stall for you and replace all the guts inside it. Which would make your car an animal off the line

Good info WD. I didn't know you could send off your stock converter out.

My car has 134k on it. I'm going to swap the fluid, and add a nice sized cooler. I believe a thermostat for the cooler would be a good thing so you don't hurt your transmission by beating on it if its not warmed up. I'm not completely sure though.

If anyone wants to contribute a T3 turbo, send it over. It's all I need to boost the S14..

will I need the transmission cooler if I stay around 200 hp? Also, this may be another topic in and of itself but what turbo would you recommend for a very mild setup. I was thinking T25 but I hear it only runs at 7-8 psi.

Eric, i got a t3 super 60 that i would let you snag for 75 shipped. Its been sittin for a while, but the wheel spins freely and its got little to no shaft play. Judging from the shaft play the turbos in great shape.

Hit me up, my emails in my profile.

BTW, WD pwns your profile.. Lmao
