So last night as I was trying to exit the parking lot at work..The reverse took a LONG time to kick in... I thought it was weird..

I drove home... then no more R at all !All night last night, no reverse..

This morning...reverse works fine...

Shifting going forward goes well too, the overdrive works and everything..

Now, I am going to do my 5speed swap sooner than I thought I guess...but this could be something stupid I guess?

Could it just be a lack of oil?

lack of oil could cause that, also if you notice a delay in gear shiftings could also signify that too. check your fluid and, im not sure about the 240 but most cars you have to have the car on to check the transmission fluid.

it is most likely low on oil, when i used to have a auto eclipse(which had a nice leak in the trans, crap quality....) and it ran low on oil it sometimes wouldn't get back into gear from a stop, and so i'd have to turn it off and turn it back on, that usually did the trick but not always, and sometimes it would take its time to get into reverse.

Dude, it's going to blow up...you're screwed man, SCREWED!!.....

Eh, sorry...PVT. Jenkins talking to me again

On a more serious note, make the switch to redline transmission fluid and it should fix your problem. It sounds like your car could use a full-on tune up before anything else, but that's just my beliefs.

Like he said, I would try switching to Redline now. Mine was doing the same thing as yours and I ignored it, then one morning it just gave up (but I got a manual swap too so it was worth it .)

It's getting a manual transmission installed at the moment. Problem fixed..As for the tune up, the only thing I hadn't changed in the car and needed a tune up was that, since it had NEVER been changed ever before... a lot of people told me it would be better to leave the old crap oil in until I swapped to my manual transmission...

So because my Reverse fails on an old automatic transmission I don't give a flynig **** about I'm a retard and my whole car is a ****box..Thanks !
