Hi, I am new in the forum and I am planning to get a 2014 Rogue, but I never had a car with a CVT and I read that overheating could be a problem (do this means that in a hot summer day I cannot travel 700 kms.(400 miles)?). My other concern is that just the top model with certain package comes with Auto Head Lights (here in Canada). and I was talking to the dealer about getting the light sensor and the combination switch to make them work but my other concern is if it works just installing this parts or if it needs BCM programing. The salesman didn't give me a straight answer even though he said that was going to talk to parts & service.
I am not too picky but all my cars have had auto lamps and I like the feature.
Any help & info is appreciated!
thanks
HugoDaniel

While there were some issues with previous model CVT's, they were blown a bit out of proportion. The current transmissions are pretty bulletproof. 400 mile trips are not an issue in 100F+ Texas heat going 85+ mph with the current CVT (I took that trip in an Altima with the same transmission), much less a Canadian "hot day".

Glad I could help. It is always good to look at the worst case scenario to be on the safe side. While it can get humid and miserable, cars do not cool by evaporation, so heat is the big issue. For reference, I looked up the highest temp ever recorded in Toronto, which was 40C or 104F back in 1936, or approximately the peak temp during my trip-- so you are good.

But if you want further evidence, the Altima is often the best selling vehicle in Nevada, where the record high is 52C/125F. The average daily high temperature for Vegas in July is 104F, as hot as the highest temp ever recorded in Toronto (which has an average daily high temp of 80F in July). If there were significant issues with heat and CVT's then you would be hearing about it, and Nissan would not keep selling so many.

Thanks again Ine937s, I will decide in about 2 weeks if I buy the Rogue, my other concern is the auto head lights which in Ontario is part of a package in the SL and I read that is available in the SV or is standard in the U.S. may be the person(s) in charge of ordering the cars for Canada did not took this in consideration, if I buy the SV comes with the moon roof and if I don't want the moon roof I have to get the S model.

Actually you can get an SL package now without the moonroof, my dealer has a couple. So Nissan for 2014 gives you a little more choice when it comes to trim packages. The auto leveling headlights are a good option and the LEDs are wonderfully bright.

Thanks mag318 for your response, that package is offered in the U.S. but here in Canada the SV y SL come with sunroof, I don't know why Nissan Canada orders the models like that and with no autoheadlights.
