Why does everyone here not like automatics? I have an automatic 240...is there something wrong with that? Can an auto 240 not beat a stick 240?I really wanna race at the strip here...so i would like to know if a auto can even win against a stick. and whenever i do race what do i have to do different when i race? Can i just floor the gas pedal or do i have to easy into it a bit? thx

I don't really have an answer to most of your questions, but I think I can tell you why some people prefer a standard transmission to automatic.

A lot of people prefer to have the extra control that a manual transmission brings. It's more fun, unless you happen to be driving to work during rush hour...then it sucks. ;)

A lot of auto transmissions are sloppy and tend to shift (or not shift) at the most inopportune of times.

There's a reason why most high end sports cars have standard transmissions. That said, BMW's SMG II is unbelievably slick. It's kinda like what they use in F1 cars (I think WRC rally cars use something similar too).

Still, auto or manual, there's nothing' wrong with owning a 240SX! How many other sporty, affordable FR cars do you know of?

Well, if the stick driver really sucks you should be able to beat him with the auto...the one nice thing about them is they are VERY consistent...hence you will do well in bracket racing, just figure out what you run and dial in at that!

Just don't spin your tires too much, and go as fast as possible. Mess around a little and see what works, racing isn't always a definite science.
