So it was my first time autocrossing my vert. I found out pretty quickly that my front suspension is not stiff enough at all. I have Tien S tech springs with KYB GR2's on all 4 corners. The fronts bottomed out a good bit so I just co drove with a buddy in his S2000. I guess the KYB's just arnt up to it. I was thinking about going to Tokico HPs. That is what I have in my 280Z and they seem to work great. Has anyone had the same issues with the Tien S techs? This is my daily driver so I really don't want super stiff suspension but needs to be stiffer so I don't bottom out for sure..

GR2 is basically a stock replacement strut, the adjustable KYB AGX would be better or the HPs.

If it's for daily driving, just keep it as is & deal w/ it. Neither your springs nor struts are made for autoxing - both are approx stock replacement. The only real solution is going coilovers or koni inserts + stiffer spring (eibach, swift, what have you). A compromise is the kyb agx + rsr springs, but they are almost as stiff as some coilovers but don't handle as well in autox as coilovers anyway.

The other solution is to drive significantly smoother - have a more experienced autoxer drive your car for a lap. You'd be amazed at what they can do w/ stock/close to stock suspension. I was bottoming out my stock suspension when I first took my vert out (already had a couple years of autoxing under my belt at this point, too), but an instructor was able to make the car behave SO WELL & cut a good 2 seconds off my time; of course, the car was still a** slow compared to where it should be, but it gives you an idea of how much a driver can make a difference.

non blown agx and some g/c sleeves would work well.

a buddy of mine has S tech springs on his STI with stock struts and it handles fantastic. I have been autoXing for a few years off and on. I actually just parked the S13 and co drove with a friend in his S2000. I have never driven the car and was around 4 seconds slower then the FTD. From what I have read the Tien S techs were a lowering spring with a stiffer rate, the H techs would not lower the car as much and not be much more stiff then stock. At anyrate, I think I am going to pick up a set of Tokico Blues and see how that works out. I dont plan on autoXing the Vert every month but every once in a while it is great fun. I bet all my bushings are pretty warn out as well.
