So im needing a replacement for my 89bronco 2. Float_6969 were talking and I wanted a truck and he made fun of me, then told me to get a lightning. I was wondering how well u guys think a lighting could autocross compared to your cars. I ask cuz ive never autocrossed or driven a Lightning and I know some of u have done atleast one of them.

they can hang.

Skwerel had an awesome duel with a Dakota RT at the auto cross

and the lightning can still haul stuff.

It's really not the best choice for an auto x vehicle, but it'll probably be your only competition in the Truck class, lest a Syclone shows up, then I suggest you slash his tires or something:D

are you wanting to get one new or used? and what year lightning? The first ones blew...

I'm sure you could autocross it, but the overriding question is why would you. Among the traits that makes it undesireable for autocrossing is its size, its heavy weight, its higher center of gravity, and somewhat numb steering. The huge gobs of torque would certainly make it a hoot. Unfortunately your tires won't last long.

The lightning is more of a straight line truck

yeah, but if he wants a truck and ability to autocross, that'd be the one to go with.

you could always get a Subaru Brat:D

you gotta remember he'll be running with other Trucks (assuming there are any out there) So he'd be well prepared to take on any other stock truck, even the lame SRT 10...

lame my *** 1der. :rolleyes That damned Dodge just broke the top speed record for a stock pickup truck.

Looney, a Syclone would be a better choice for auto-x. AWD+turbo+lower center of gravity=kicking a Lightning's arse.

If a Crown Vic can autocross, then so can a Lightning, I've seen Cyclones run excellent times. So it's all good :D

cyclones were AWD though.. they were amazing beasts. lightnings are great, for a pickup. I bet they could stomp many a 240.

riddle me this batman, how much faster is it then the Lightning, how much quicker? Then how much more power does it have?;)

oh, I agree on the Syclone though, I think I mentioned it in my first post, I think...

but it's more then likely not gonna be encountered. The main comp will probably be Hemi Rams, the R/T's, and Xtreme s-10's

and maybe, just maybe, if it's a really amusing day, the dreaded Turbo Ranger:D

oh, i was just wondering how it would autoX, Not that i would do it more than once or twice just for fun. But i kinda sorta need a truck (with a bed big enough to hold my motorcycle so i can take it to the track) and the lightning is just looking sooo good. However i do also need 4x4 :( Damn the choices.

does anyone still have that windows media clip of the firetruck running the autocross course, where they were sliding the back end out? that was bad ***. A bronco II would just flip. you should put those stabilizer bars on it.

The answer to you dilema if only Ford would not be lame at all and actually bring it over here...yeah, it's got the XR8 powerplant available for it, that'd be what you're seeing.
