Autocross/HICAS

I am sure that most of you don't need me to clarify, but...

I am planning on buying a 1992 240sx SE with HICAS. I am also planning on autocrossing it.

Are there any autoXers out there with HICAS that could offer their advice on wether it helps or hurts?

I would think that it would make it harder to judge your limits... but I really havent driven a 240 with HICAS hard enough to be able to tell.

Any opinions would be appriciated.

I would not recomend a HICAS for autocross. im also planning to autox a 92 but HICUS is a bad idea. for one its an all-wheel steering thats digitally controllled which equals problems. if you slide to much it shuts off and goes into a manual mode which means in the middle of a lap you would have to readjust your cornering. its fine for the street but its just to chancy for for autox. and if it breaks good luck replacing it. sorry

Is there a way to completely remove the HICAS system from a car? Or is it too integrated into the suspension?

Would it be easier to find a different (excellent condition) car without HICAS?

(I wish that I had the car in front of me.)

stillen makes a hicas eliminator thing for 90-93 300zx but i think it only works with 300zx. probably better to find a non-hicas car, which you would have an easier time finding.

I think Don Nimi's autocross monster has HICAS....(go to pdm-racing.com and go to "240sx street machine"...) if he's running HICAS with no problems, I'd trust it for autox!
