ok so i dont personally own an infiniti but my mom just bought a 2010 g37s (manual transmission) now i am super pumped because i love auto-xing and i really cant wait to bring it and run it. but my dad was talking with his friend who has a nismo 350z (not sure what year) and he said the 1st time he took it to auto-x he screwed up the transmission. he mentioned something about a defect. so he took it to the dealership, but nissan voided his warranty because they looked at his "black box" and classified him as an aggressive driver. so my question is: can we auto-x this amazing car?!!! or should we be worried about screwing up the transmission/engine and then be screwed by nissans evil black box? because it holds the road so well i want to race it so bad lol. thanks!!!

haha thanks!
and foxwiz autocross is where they set up a road course with parking lot cones and you race against the clock on the course. the advantage of this over a real road course is that you cant damage ur car (much) on cones, and its way cheaper
you should look into it because the g37 should be a really good car for it
anyways any problems with running these cars hard? and does the "black box" in the nismo even exist in the 37?

An auto cross shouldn't damage a car provided the car isn't defective and the driver is competent. You should be able to run any Nissan or Infiniti to red line at full throttle, shift smoothly up and down through the gears, brake and corner at the limit of adhesion without harming the car. Doing that for hundreds of miles will seriously accelerate wear but auto crosses are too short for that. Without more information, it is impossible to tell whether they are trying to weasel out of replacing the transmission or the driver is unable to shift quickly without grinding the gears.

Welcome to NICO!

I've never heard of a "black box" for any Nissan or Infiniti. We have a few great techs on this site that will confirm it yes or no...

Yes, we love pics...even if it's a furd...lol!

yeah it sounds like the dealer didnt want to replace a transmission because of "user error" LOL its not dealers fault a guy couldnt shift gears... so if you are a competent driver you wont mess nothing up these cars can handle redline with no problem... my old G35x saw it redline everyday for 55k miles and had no problems... so a couple hours wont hurt the improved g37... :yesnod

Welcome to NICO

Let me see if I understand what you are about to do to your moms $40k+ car?

You may want to check out event data recorders because if your moms car develops a problem after you get done with it the dealer might decline to fix it and void the warranty

Have fun with your moms car
