Basically, the FSM doesn't say anything about fixing that window problem (I could be wrong). The problem with your car window is the Window Regulator Limit Switch. It needs to be reset so your window will not automatically droop down (@ 6") when commanded to close. The same switch is used for the Anti-Pinch feature of the windows.

In other Infiniti cars, the Limit Switch can be accessed behind the the interior door handle. Once the cover and handle is removed, it possible to access the limit switch. I'm not sure if it is true with the F50. But you can use the FSM, Chapter 'gw' (Glass and Windows) provided by Paul to remove door panels necessary to access the Limit Switch. Be very careful with the Wood Trim as they can snap or get cracked.

Once you have access to the limit switch, then you can perform the reset procedure as follows:-Ignition switch to ON-make sure the window is fully closed-press and HOLD the Reset Switch while lowering the window-release the Reset switch once the window is all the way down. This established the full range of travel of the window.-Verify by closing the window.-turn Ignition switch to OFF-re-install components removed.

Another option is to take the car to the dealership. They can probably reset the Limit Switch for @ $60.

thank you guys so much. i dld the service manual and will tackle this job next weekend. i hate letting things like this go. every once in a while i go through my Q and make a punch list of little annoyances that i try and fix. after this on i have to fix my deck lid from falling closed once i open it. i just need to find the trunk struts. its not easy unless i go to the dealership and then they rape you on the price of course. with 3 vehicles to maintain i really have to watch my budget. thanks again

OEM struts are expensive. You can get replacement struts by Strong Arm or Tuff Support from eBay or other online retailers. I've used Tuff Support in my 97Q while others recommend the Strong Arm brand. Do a search and see if anything fits your needs. Also, the non-OEM replacement parts have ball nuts included, unlike the OEM where you have to cut it from the old one.
