I drove up to the Dallas\Ft. Worth area early this morning to pick up a Versa S with the automatic(first one I have driven). It was over a 300 mile trip back and it sure does make me appreciate my CVT.

Not having the almost instant response when you give it a little gas was the most noticable difference. I drove around 70-75 most of the way back and the gas gauge was a tick below empty when I pulled in the dealership with 314 on the trip meter.

I would start up one of the fairly steep hills and just keep pushing down on the accelerator(no cruise) until it would finally kick down into 3rd gear. Very annoying.

I just hope the CVTs hold up over the long term as I will probably sell my wife's 05 CRV and buy a Rogue when they come out then come next June it is off to Yosemite for a real test of man and machine.

Lol... no rock crawling with the CVT! That's not what it's built for!

I guess that is what my post hinted at. I actually meant the 3600 mile round trip from Texas.
