Anyway you can somehow rig the power window controls to add auto/up down feature to passenger side as well???

I kind of doubt it, but to add to your question - is the driver's side door supposed to have the auto UP function, as well as auto down? Mine only seems to go down automatically.

I don't know about the SL, but I know that the S (that's what I have) only has an auto-down feature. I would assume this is to cut down on cost (don't need a sensor to see when the window is all the way up).

How can it be? Maybe auto up only comes with leather package?

This has already been hashed out on the other forum....

Supposedly, you only get the auto up/down (4 contact) switch with themoonroof and leather package....you only get the auto down (3 contact)switch with everything else....

I call this economic cutting corners a little over the top...kinda cheap ofNissan...

So can the 4 point switch be purchased and popped in?

Actually it's listed as part of the leather package, like heated outside mirrors, nothing to do with the moon roof option.

Thanks for the correction....in the other forum, it just so happenedthat the posters that had the auto up and down, had both themoonroof and the leather....so, bad assumption on my part.

Then, Dave asked: "So can the 4 point switch be purchased and popped in?"

My understanding is no, because the window wiring harness issupposedly different.....but, correct me if this is not correct.

The Auto-up drivers side window is indeed part of the leather package.

Now, the auto up/down feature is more than just a switch. The switch also includes a power window controller/CPU that controls the autoup/down operation. There is also a special anti-pinch system that prevents the fingers, etc from getting pinched in the window. The system consists of a different CPU/switch assembly and a different power window motor that has an encoder wheel. The encoder wheel allows the CPU to determine if the window suddenly stops at mid-travel and will reverse the window in much the same way as an automatic garage door opener.

Retrofitting a Rogue with auto up/down passenger side windows would require sourcing a power window switches & cpu from another Nissan (i.e. Altima) along with new power window motors with the encoder wheel. You would then have to run additional wiring to make everything work. Not as easy as it seems now does it!

That auto up/down feature is extremely annoying. And now I find myself with not one but two cars with it, an Azera and the Rogue. I know exactly where I want my window and having to fool around starting and stopping the damn thing is a pain in the a**. How did we ever get talked into this goofy feature? Probably the same way we lost the wind wing window years ago. Not enough people complained.

You do know that if you depress the switch part way (before the click) it operates like conventional power window and you can open it whereever you want. Pressing it fully until it clicks activates the auto down/up. Refer to your owners manual, pages 2-40 and 2-41.

No Philipa, I didn't pick up on that and I am one of the few people who actually reads the manual. Thanks.

Too bad it can't be just done via the OBD port. I've got the Vag-Com software for my VW and it allows me to turn options on and off. Controling locking sequence, window features, not to mention EGR values and loads of other engine related things.

oh well..Dave

Nissan's have typically been very hard to hack. To really do anything, you need Nissan's CONSULT III diagnostic tool. Even then, there isn't much to play with. I've poured over the FSM, and there are very few options that could be enabled.

I have a 2001 QX4 and both front windows are auto up and auto down. The moonroof has that feature, too.

Just a heads up, in case anyone was bored and wanted to try a big retrofit project!
