Auto TT trans Bad?

Hey guys. Im looking for another TT for my older sister.. she fell in love with the Z after i brought mine home. Unfortunately i dont think she will ever be able to drive a stick shift so im looking for an automatic. Ive been around Z cars for a while my older brother used to buy and sell them at his dealership like crazy. My brother insists that the auto tranies of the 300zx are crap... Ive also heard alot of negatives about them.. what do u guys think of the auto transmission on a twin turbo?

From what I've seen/read, these guys hate all AT's. They might let it slide if it's paddle-shifted, however...

as far as auto's in high powered imparte go they are decent, ike anything else they will wear out and the rubuild will cost a lot more than a C4 or th350

True, but the fact that the transmissions are so cheap to pick up its a sin. Sometimes just picking up a JDM one for 500 beats a rebuild.

I also have heard lots of testimony on the better strength and more tolerance of heavy loads on the Automatic. Z1motorsports suggests an automatic transmission with the TT power packages and I have seen some Zs with heavy HP who like the fact an auto transmission can take a little bit of a beating with less repair. Downside obviously like evil said, when automatics go its an entire rebuild or swap.

Get a decent Z with decent mileage, and it should carry you nicely.

The auto transmissions are decently strong. I haven seen quite a few Z32 TT's that are drag raced on a regular basis that are auto and thye hold up just fine with a lot of modifcations.

She will be fine with an auto and they are durable.
