Hello,I have been searching for information on the differences between the manual and auto TT models. I know the turbos are smaller on the auto, but are there other differences? I saw posts where a couple of people thought the cams might be different, but never confirmed.

How much of a difference do the smaller auto turbos make in terms of upgrading?

I have found several auto tt's that were lower price, lower mileage and better condition than 5 speeds. My intention would be to swap in a 5 spd and begin building toward my goal of @400 rwhp.

Thanks,Paul

I wouldn't worry much on the turbos as you'll likely upgrade them for you goal (though I've heard of people getting impressive numbers with stock turbos... most are close to being worn out so replacements wouldn't be a bad idea).

The auto cams are definitely different. Oddly enough, the NA and 5-speed TT have the same cams but the auto TT cams have slightly lower lift on the intake side and a little less duration on the exhaust side according to the 1994 FSM.

If the auto's you're finding are in better shape, I'd personally go that route and do the 5-speed swap. I hate getting a car only to dump a bunch of money into it to simply get it to stock condition.
