I have a 1990 240sx and right now it is shifting between 3800 and 4200 rpms. And when it shifts if feels like a bad driver driving a stick. I was told it was the transmission module. When i bought the car the owner gave me a 1994 convertible auto trans. Will the 1994 trans work in the 1990? Also has anyone heard of the transmission module causing this problem? Thanks in advance

What connector are you talking about? And if it smoothen shifts, can it also adjust the rpms its shifting at?

it's a connector with 2 wires going into it on the driver's side fender under the hood. It doesn't control anything...just smoothes the shifts somehow

It's a dropping resistor which serves to lower the transmission fluid pressure. Unplugging it results in higher pressure causing more aggressive shifting.

Don't forget to check the transmission fluid level. It's no magic fix, but correcting the fluid level can resolve a good many auto transmission problems.

So i should check the cable and get the transmission fluid changed before i buy a module and or do the trans swap?

before you go to all the trouble of changing the transmissions out check the throttle position sensor they are wired into the computer that controls the shift points and do have a big effect
