Auto Transmission broke??

My transmission wont keep going. It is making a whining noise when I drive it. It will go for a little bit as long as it keeps going forward and I dont stop. Once I stop it then wont engage, I then shut it off and let it sit a few minutes and then start it up and it will shift into gear but only stay that way for a short ( and I mean short, maybe 100 yds ) time and then I will have to shut it off and repeat.

This is a new problem there wasnt any sign of anything before. I did just have my brakes done and new tires put on at a shop.

Yes, the transmission fluid looked good,clean and full.

Search the 240 vert forum. There is a thread for a 94 that covers several diagnostic tests you can do. My thought here is the trans went tits up but you can still do some tests and see if its electrical or mechanical. ultimatly a line pressure check would help but not everyone has that equipment.

I am doing a 5 speed swap to remedy the situation with that damn automatic, HHHHHHOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAYYYYY!

I dont currently have a problem with my auto, but I am doing the 5 spd swap anyway. A sports car is not a sports car unless its fun to drive. I do not find "D" fun to drive...lol
