Auto trans to Manual

Who has ever done this conversion? My Auto trans is going out and i need to Convert to manual. What i need to know is.....How much does it cost?Can i do it myself?Is it a hassle?What type of transmission do i get and from who?car is stock 91 240sx (dohc for those who dont know whats in there)
