Okay I checked the tps sensor. The ohlms resistence starts at .5 and goes steady all the way to 7.3 instead of 4.0 when I roll the throttle all the way wide open. When I adjusted the tps I also noticed it wanted to shift at a little higher rpm then previously. Wouldn't a code come up for the tps if that was the problem or does that high of resistence already indicate a problem. What about the closed throttle position switch I see that it's integral to the tps could this be acting up as well. Where can I buy the tps for a reasonable price online if this is the problem. thanx again for any help you can offer.

you measurement should be in volts not ohms. and yes the on off switch can effect it.

I thought I was looking for resistence not voltage. Maybe voltage is for a manual trans instead of auto trans. I did adjust it anyway and now it starts at 5 ohlms and as you turn the throttle it stays steady but travels to 7.3. How about the closed throttle position switch could this be part of the problem how do I check and what exactly does this do. Does this transmission have a dropping resistor like the 240's if so where is it and could this be another problem thanx again

no you are looking for voltage with it plugged in and key on. you back probe the connector with a pin and measure the voltage as you rotate the throttle drum. car is not running but key is on.

If you set it so it rests at .5v your closed throttle switch will be right about where its suppose to be.

yeah but what about the 7.3 max isn't this to high what about the dropping resistor why does the chilton manual tell you to check this with the connectors unplugged

I see how it says to check for voltage that is for a manual not auto like mine
